March of the penguins: climate activists protest at British Airways ice rink - 12th January 2008

Around 30 penguins today 'reclaimed the ice' at the Natural History Museum's ice rink in protest at British Airways sponsorship of the museum's annual winter festivities.

The protestors, from the climate action group Plane Stupid, dressed as penguins to highlight the irony of an airline creating an ice rink in central London, whilst its business activities are a major cause of global warming, which is melting the polar ice caps and causing dangerous climate change. Climate activists: Third runway "consultation" is dangerous farce - 22nd November 2007

Climate action group, Plane Stupid, today condemned the opening of a 'consultation' on the third runway at Heathrow as a farce, pointing out that a new MORI poll shows that 70 per cent of the UK population have already said no to airport expansion.

Activist for Plane Stupid, Leila Deen, said:

"This process would be funny if it wasn't so dangerous. It's like consulting a curable patient on which sickness they want to die from. This so-called 'consultation' fails to extend even to many of those living near the airport let alone the millions around the world set to die from catastrophic climate change. Who is consulting them?"
